Emu Oil

Emu oil is an oil that is derived from the fat of the emu bird. It has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties when applied topically. One study found that “the ‘oil’ obtained from emu fat can be a very effective inhibitor of chronic inflammation in rats when applied dermally.”1 Another study elaborates: “The efficacies of the emu oils acting transdermally are compared with that of orally administered ibuprofen (40 mg/kg).”2

Emu oil taken orally has been found to “decreased acute ileal (gastrointestinal) inflammation, and improved mucosal architecture in the intestine during recovery from chemotherapy in rats.”3
