Zinc

Zinc is a mineral that is required for normal cellular metabolism. It is a cofactor for many enzymes involved in chemical reactions in the body. One of these enzymes is superoxide dismutase which normally converts superoxides into oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. Superoxides are highly reactive oxygen species that can cause damage to tissue like cartilage.
